Recycling

Flooring manufacturers Altro and Polyflor are founding and funding members of the vinyl flooring take-back scheme Recofloor. Waste vinyl flooring collected under the scheme is diverted from landfill and recycled.

Recofloor is the national vinyl flooring take-back scheme founded in 2009 by flooring manufacturers Altro and Polyflor. Smooth and safety vinyl flooring offcuts are recycled into new flooring products. Smooth uplifted flooring is reprocessed into traffic management products, such as cones and sign bases. As of May 2020, Recofloor has collected in total more than 5,000 tonnes of waste vinyl flooring since the national award-winning take back scheme was founded. Our whole company is involved with Recofloor, which is an integral part of our waste management activities and is actively promoted throughout our business. All our vinyl waste is brought back to our premises so it can be segregated correctly and recycled. We first became involved in the Recofloor scheme in 2015 and have won awards every year since for our continued effort to recycle vinyl flooring which would otherwise have gone to landfill. We are very proud to be associated with Recofloor and reducing our impact on the environment.
